The process of making a golf ball is almost like rocket science…actually it might even be more difficult. 

During a tour of the Titleist plant we were amazed at the complexity and the amount of steps it actually takes to produce something that most of us cant keep out of the hazards.  I mean really…. you will think differently next time you play an island green…you might just feel bad about taking a chance at losing one of these pieces of art at after watching this.

Our insider at Cleveland Golf is telling us that HiBore XLS driver is even better then the original Cleveland Hibore XL!  That will be a tough task..the first time the mygolfspy.com guys hit the original HiBore XL we thought it was the hottest face we had ever hit.  No matter where you hit it on the face it felt like you had hit it right on the screws.

So what does the “S” stand for you ask…the news we are getting is ”Second Generation”.   The major changes in this one are the crown design,  it increases the MOI significantly.  We will update you when we get any more news on the Cleveland HiBore XLS.

Nike was first to the punch when it came to the square headed MOI monster driver heads but they certainly were not the last.  Everyone from Cobra to even Titleist got into the MOI hoopla.  And from what the Mygolfspy guys are seeing this trend might be here to stay. 

The square shape Nike patented has seriously changed the path of golf head design which is leading to some pretty radical stuff in the pipelines.  And the 2nd Generation that Nike has developed is proof of this.  The Nike SQ Sumo2 5900 and Nike SQ Sumo 5000 are even bigger, badder and even boxier then their predecessors.  They must be on the right path though, they have led the PGA in driver wins the last 2 years.  Check out the top and side view below:

2008 Nike SQ Sumo 5000

The SUMO 5000 is a more traditionally shaped…well thats what Nike says atleast.  You will see from the other two views that they have equipped this beast with a similar PowerBow system that they used in 2007.  

The purpose of both designs is to provide superior head stability, maximize ball speed, and deliver the ultimate in accuracy.  And that is what this game is all about..being in the short grass!

Nike Slingshot 4D Irons

The Slingshot 4D has 4 features that make it stand out from previous Nike models:

Altered Slingback:
Design positioned weight strategically (low and back in long irons; higher & forward in short irons) in each club to achieve the desired ball flight 

Variable Sole Width:
Sole width narrows progressively throughout the set — long irons are wider for higher launch; short irons are thinner to provide greater control 

Progressive Offset:
Offset in the long irons make it easier to square the face and hit high, straight shots. Incremental decreases in the mid and short irons ensure precise shot-making with the scoring clubs 

Club Head Profile:
The long irons offer hybrid-like forgiveness and high, soft-landing shots — the mid-size profile of the short irons enhances control and accuracy

2008 Callaway FT Irons

Redesigned to appeal to the better player.  This Callaway iron has many subtle changes that will benefit the better ball striker.  How you ask? Less offset  – thinner top line  – higher toe – 80% weight moved toward perimeter   The Tunite Cradle, made of a high-density proprietary alloy, plus Lightweight Hot Titanium Face and TPU SenSert cavity-back insert combine to create a powerful, forgiving and solid feeling iron.

2008 Callaway I-Brid   It was only a matter of time before Callaway came out with a hyrbid that you could use in a combo set with their traditional iron set.  The Callaway FT I-Brid takes the revolutionary advances that Callaway has come to be known for and put them into a one helluva hybrid.

Callaway has always made great drivers..well except for a couple bad years. But this year they are hoping the Callaway Hyper X and Callaway Hyper X Tour takes the golfing world by storm once again.The driver features many firsts for Callaway…like Hyperbolic Face Technology and also the largest hitting area of any Callaway driver ever made.   

 
2008 Callaway X Tour C-Grind 

Arguably one of the best wedge players to ever to play the game Phil Mickelson has been working along side with Callaway to develop the new C-Grind wedge.The wedges are already making waves on Tour, many of the World’s top pros are becoming big fans of the NEW C-Grind wedge.  The distinctive sole increases versitility, enabling the player to open the face and still keep the leading edge of the golf club down. They are expected to hit the shops in January and will be available in two finishes: New Satin Chrome and New Vintage. 

 
New Callaway IX Secret Golf Ball? 

Callaway says this ball will make a big difference to our games! This prototype golf ball CODE NAME: Tour IX has a distinctive difference in feel compared to the Titleist Pro V1.  Ernie Els has been testing this ball and Callaway might be launching this is 2008.  Keep your eyes peeled.
